I was recently offered a very important contract. It was financially attractive, but it had a condition I couldn't live with: for one year, I wasn't allowed to talk about Ozempic, Mounjaro, or any other medicine in the GLP-1 family. After six years of using these medications, how could I accept a brand deciding what I can tell you?
My answer was no.
My story didn't start the right way
Those who have been following me for a while know that I didn't arrive at this topic yesterday. At first, I used it incorrectly: I started without proper medical guidance, I suffered side effects that I probably didn't need to have suffered, and I even thought that feeling bad was just part of the process. I believed I had to endure it.
Today I know that's not the case.
Over time, I started interviewing doctors and specialists on my podcast, Te Tengo un Cuento, and I put myself in the hands of professionals who know my medical history and provide constant follow-up. That was when I understood something essential: it’s not just about injecting yourself and stopping eating. It’s about learning to nourish yourself, protect your muscle mass, do strength training, and understand what happens inside the body—especially in women's health after 40, where losing weight without protecting muscle can become a problem, not a victory.

I have three regrets from this journey:
-
Having started without enough information: and with someone who was selling me the vial, not with a real doctor.
-
Having believed that more suffering meant a better result: we should not normalize feeling permanently ill.
-
Not having understood sooner that medication is an extraordinary tool, yes, but it never replaces nutrition, movement, or medical monitoring.
What I don't regret is having spoken publicly about my experience, with all its lights and shadows. My value lies precisely in being able to tell you where I went wrong and what I learned afterward.
Science goes far beyond the scale
These medicines are not vitamins or quick fixes: they are medical treatments that require evaluation, indication, and professional monitoring. Every person responds differently, and not everyone is a candidate. But we also can't reduce them to "weight-loss injections": the most important studies on semaglutide show significant results when the treatment is accompanied by lifestyle changes, and even cardiovascular benefits in specific patient groups. At the same time, the FDA warns about side effects and contraindications that must be evaluated individually.
This is precisely why I always insist on medical supervision.
This has never been just about losing weight
Over these years, I have heard many stories: women who regained the confidence to look for a job, who started traveling and socializing again, who could look in the mirror without fighting with their own image. I’m not saying that an injection solves our problems—it would be irresponsible to claim that. What I am saying is that for some people, treating a condition that was affecting their health gave them back the energy, confidence, and sense of control they had lost.
There is also the "food noise": that constant thought process regarding what to eat, how much, and when to start the next diet. In my experience, when that noise diminished, I was able to use that calm to build different habits.
The medication didn't do all the work for me. It gave me a space so that I could do it myself.

I will not allow a brand to decide my truth
That is why I turned down that contract. I can work with a brand, recommend it, and genuinely believe in it. What I cannot do is marry a brand to the point of losing my identity and my freedom. Because the day a company controls what I say, I stop being me.
My main commitment cannot be to the laboratory that pays me the most. It has to be to you and to the truth of my own experience: the good and the bad, the results and the side effects, scientific progress without magic solutions. I am going to continue talking about GLP-1, wellness, hormones, longevity, and nutrition with enthusiasm, but with responsibility. My personal experience, even after six years, does not replace a consultation with a professional.
With honesty. Without secrets. And without any brand deciding for me.
And you, have you ever had to choose between what is convenient for you and who you are?
